A coal mine explosion in Tajikistan’s Sughd province claimed the lives of six Afghan workers. Five victims were from Daykundi province and one from Ghor province, who perished in this tragic incident at the Ayni district mine.

The explosion occurred on Sunday, November 3rd, and the workers’ bodies remain trapped in the tunnel.

This marks the second deadly incident at the same mine this year, following an April explosion that killed eight Daykundi workers.

Workers complain about safety negligence and lack of complaint rights, facing fines and deportation for speaking out. Poverty and unemployment in Afghanistan have forced millions to migrate to neighboring countries for dangerous, low-paying jobs in harsh working conditions.
