Local sources from Helmand province reported that two young men were severely injured in a roadside mine explosion in Khakrez district. The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, in Khakrez village.
According to reports, the accident happened when a motorcycle veered off the road due to excessive speed and hit a roadside mine. The injured were transferred to Helmand government hospital for treatment, with their condition reported as critical.
The mine had remained in the area from the past. Most of these mines were planted by the Taliban group when they were fighting against the republican system. Planting roadside mines was one of the Taliban’s most common warfare tactics during their insurgency.
