Joe Kent, director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, announced that 2,000 Afghan citizens who entered the US under the “Allies Welcome” program have been identified as having suspected links to terrorist organizations.

He stated that these individuals are now under investigation by US security agencies.

Kent also revealed that nearly 18,000 people who entered the US during the Biden administration are suspected of ties to groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda, calling them the biggest current terrorism threat to the US.

During a session of the House Homeland Security Committee, former Trump administration security officials were summoned, with part of the discussion focusing on security threats posed by Afghan refugees in the United States.
