The Taliban’s Supreme Court has officially announced the public flogging of 18 individuals in Kabul accused of drug trafficking and sales.

On Thursday, the court confirmed that these convicts received lashes and prison sentences ranging from several months to three years .


Recent data indicates a significant surge in corporal punishments, with nearly 70 people flogged nationwide in just the last ten days.

A United Nations report further highlights that hundreds of men and women faced similar penalties between August and October of this year .
