Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Taliban, called on the international community to drop sanctions and pursue economic engagement.

Speaking at the inauguration of a major commercial market in Balkh, he argued that a prosperous and strong Afghanistan is beneficial for the entire region’s stability.

During his address in Mazar-i-Sharif, Baradar emphasized that the current administration believes in regional and international economic integration based on mutual respect.

He invited both domestic and foreign investors to take advantage of the opportunities in Afghanistan, citing the government’s support for the private sector and large-scale infrastructure projects.

The newly opened market represents a significant investment, featuring hundreds of shops and facilities. However, Baradar’s call comes as Afghanistan continues to face banking sanctions and a lack of diplomatic recognition, which remain major hurdles for the country’s economic development and trade relationships with the world.
