Sources in Ghazni province report that Taliban members have tortured and killed a former government soldier named Mohammad Anwar Andar.
His body, bearing clear signs of severe torture, was discovered by locals days after he was detained by the group.
The victim, a resident of Andar district, is the latest casualty in a wave of reprisals targeting ex-military personnel. Despite the Taliban’s declared general amnesty, incidents of detention and extrajudicial killings of former security forces continue to be reported across the country without accountability.
This brutal killing has spread fear among the families of former government employees.
Human rights organizations continue to urge the Taliban to uphold their amnesty pledges, but the recurring violence suggests a systematic campaign of retribution is still underway against those who served the previous administration.
