The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) has announced ongoing efforts to rebuild schools destroyed by the recent earthquakes in Herat province.
The agency is currently focusing on the reconstruction of the “Khawaja Noor” school among other educational facilities.
Funded by the UN Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan, the initiative aims to provide a safe learning environment for thousands of students affected by the disaster.
The devastating quakes had left significant damage to educational infrastructure, disrupting schooling for many children in the region.
UN-Habitat noted that it has already rehabilitated several schools in Herat, helping to restore normalcy.
These reconstruction efforts are vital for ensuring that children in the earthquake-hit areas can return to their studies securely.
