Sources confirm that the Taliban have stopped paying civil servant salaries for the past two months.
The non-payment for the months of Qaws and Jadi has left employees facing severe economic hardship amidst the harsh winter and rising fuel costs.
Although the Taliban Ministry of Finance dismissed reports of non-payment as “rumors” and promised disbursement, employees from multiple departments state they have not received funds despite submitting financial reports.
Similar delays occurred earlier this year during the spring months.
Civil servants emphasize that while their salaries are modest, they are the sole source of income for rent and basic family necessities.
The suspension of these payments during the current economic crisis is pushing many families toward extreme poverty.
