The UK has confirmed the deployment of a military officer to Greenland following a request from Denmark.
This move comes in the wake of Donald Trump’s threats to annex Greenland into the US and impose tariffs on opposing nations. European NATO members, including Germany and France, are also participating in “Operation Arctic Stamina”.
Denmark’s Defense Minister warned of the unpredictable situation, stating the mission aims to bolster regional security.
While London describes the visit as routine military planning, analysts view it as a clear signal against pressure from Washington.
Trump has threatened 10% tariffs on countries that oppose the annexation of Greenland. The presence of European forces on the icy island is seen less as an operational deployment and more as a symbolic stance to uphold Denmark’s territorial integrity.
