Mahboobshah Darabi, head of Afghanistan’s National Snooker and Billiards Federation, claimed that the Taliban group forcibly married his wife to another man during his absence.

He stated that while he was in Qatar participating in the World Snooker Federation presidential elections, Maulvi Qudsi, the Taliban’s education and training official in Balkh province, forced his wife into marriage with another person.

Darabi added that upon returning to Afghanistan to prevent this forced marriage, he was arrested and imprisoned by Taliban officials in Balkh province.

He said he was tortured daily during detention and submitted several petitions to Taliban judicial institutions, but none yielded results.

These statements come as multiple reports of restrictions, arrests, and forced marriages in various parts of Afghanistan have emerged since Taliban rule .

The Taliban group has repeatedly denied such allegations, calling them “propaganda by opponents” .
