The German women’s rights organization Medica Mondiale has issued a strong warning regarding the Taliban’s new penal code, stating it effectively legalizes violence and suppression against women in Afghanistan. The group argues that the new judicial guidelines violate international human rights standards and institutionalize gender-based discrimination.
Inga Weller, a representative for the organization, highlighted that every new decree further restricts women’s lives, reintroducing brutal punishments like flogging without fair legal process. The NGO is calling on the German government to condemn these laws explicitly and increase diplomatic pressure on the Taliban regime.
The report emphasizes that Afghan women are being systematically stripped of their basic rights and access to justice. Medica Mondiale urges the international community to recognize this as gender persecution and to provide special asylum protections for Afghan women fleeing this oppressive system.
