Local Taliban officials have reported that Pakistani forces targeted parts of the Samkani district in Paktia province with mortar fire last night. According to their statement, residential homes were hit, but no casualties were reported.
These border clashes have now entered their seventh day, marking a significant escalation in tensions. Pakistani fighter jets had previously bombed locations including Bagram Airbase and Taliban corps in Nangarhar and Kandahar.
Both sides claim to have inflicted heavy casualties on the other, though independent verification remains unavailable. Pakistani officials have yet to comment on last night’s specific strikes in Paktia.
