Unidentified armed men shot and killed a prominent tribal elder named Haji Allah Nazar in Nangarhar province. The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday morning as he was stepping out of his residence in the Surkh-Rod district.
The attackers, who were riding a motorcycle, immediately fled the scene after firing the fatal shots. Nazar was rushed to the nearest hospital for emergency treatment but unfortunately succumbed to his severe injuries.
The Taliban government police have confirmed the assassination and announced that an investigation is currently underway to apprehend the perpetrators. Mysterious targeted killings have become a major source of concern for Afghan citizens recently.
