The national disaster management authority of the Taliban government announced that the death toll from recent floods has reached 148. These severe natural disasters began in late March and have caused widespread destruction across multiple Afghan provinces.
According to Taliban government officials, over 216 individuals have been injured in these incidents, and eight people remain missing. Furthermore, hundreds of residential houses have been partially or completely destroyed, and major transportation routes are blocked.
Afghanistan remains one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change and extreme weather events. International organizations warn that continuous flooding could significantly worsen the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the country.
