Recent reports indicate that 13 people were killed and nine others severely injured in an armed attack on Friday in the Deh Miri village of Herat province. The victims of this tragic incident include two women and an 18-year-old student.
All the casualties were Shia civilians who had gathered for recreation near a local shrine. In one heartbreaking case, three members of a single family, including a 63-year-old father and his two sons, lost their lives.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for this targeted killing. Security forces of the Taliban government have announced the arrest of one suspect in connection with the deadly assault, and investigations are currently ongoing.
