The Afghanistan Analysts Network has released a new report indicating that the health situation for women in the country is severely deteriorating. The organization found that healthcare access for women in rural areas is critically threatened due to clinic closures and a massive shortage of female medical specialists.

According to the analysis, authorities have completely blocked the educational pathways for new female health professionals. These severe educational restrictions, combined with crushing economic pressures, have made it incredibly difficult for families to afford transportation to hospitals or cover basic medical expenses for patients.

Statistics reveal that Afghanistan remains one of the worst countries globally regarding maternal mortality rates. With the continuous lack of support for healthcare services and the growing number of unserved regions, the risks for pregnant women are increasing daily.
