The Norwegian Refugee Council revealed in a new report that Afghanistan represents the fifth most forgotten displacement crisis in the world for 2025. This ranking is based on media attention, humanitarian aid levels, political engagement, and the total number of displaced individuals.

According to the report, the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate under the Taliban government. Millions of Afghans face extreme poverty, natural disasters, and forced deportations from neighboring countries, while international assistance and essential funding have significantly decreased over the past few years.

The organization warned that severe restrictions on women and massive budget cuts are endangering millions of lives, particularly children. The international community must maintain sustained attention to address the root causes of this humanitarian emergency and strongly support returning refugees.
