A suicide car bomb attack targeting a military base in the Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has resulted in the death of at least two children, with several others critically injured. The target was a religious school formerly used by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) that had been taken over by security forces.
Witnesses report that the explosion leveled the building, and heavy gunfire followed immediately after the blast. Rescue teams are currently working to clear the rubble, having already pulled out six soldiers. Local sources fear the death toll may rise significantly given the scale of the destruction.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, but the incident occurred in a volatile region known for militant activity. The base was a strategic point recently secured by the Pakistani military, making this a significant breach of security in the border area.
