Abdul Bari Jahani, former Minister of Information and Culture, fiercely criticized the Afghan government for opening fire on peaceful protesters in Herat. He stated that their supreme leader has completely legalized violence and aggression against innocent citizens.

Jahani noted that the ruling leadership considers anyone who refuses to pledge allegiance to them as an infidel. He strongly argued that the widespread silence of the public has only emboldened the authorities to increase their brutality.

He also described the recent smartphone ban as a calculated move to cut off the country from the outside world. This criticism follows recent protests in Herat where security forces killed at least two demonstrators.
