The Torkham border crossing reopened on Saturday for returning Afghan migrants after being closed for two consecutive days. Pakistan had temporarily sealed this crucial transit point due to the Ashura religious observances, halting all movements.
Following the reopening, the flow of returning migrants has resumed normally. According to recent statistics, the Pakistani government forcibly deports hundreds of Afghan citizens daily through this busy border crossing back to their home country.
Many of these deported migrants face severe economic hardships and a lack of shelter upon arriving in the eastern provinces. Humanitarian organizations have repeatedly expressed deep concerns regarding their vulnerable conditions and the urgent need for international support.
