Members of the Afghan women's national cricket team are actively seeking official recognition from the International Cricket Council. Several players recently attended the T20 World Cup final in the United Kingdom to express their hopes of returning to global competitions.
Following the political changes and the return of the Taliban government, these female athletes were forced to leave Afghanistan. The majority of them have now sought asylum and are currently residing in Australia, playing as a refugee team.
The International Cricket Council has not yet recognized this exiled team, barring them from official international matches. However, the resilient players are scheduled to hold a tour of independent exhibition matches in the United Kingdom this week.
