A special United Nations fund has reported that eighty percent of drug addiction treatment centers in Afghanistan have closed down due to a lack of funding. This severe drop in international aid has severely limited access to medical services for patients.

Reports indicate that before the recent political shifts, over ninety specialized treatment facilities were actively operating across the nation. Currently, the rising use of synthetic drugs like methamphetamine among young people has triggered deep concerns within local communities.

Despite these immense challenges, a new project supported by the United Nations has been launched in several provinces. This initiative aims to assist vulnerable individuals by establishing outpatient centers and providing essential vocational training for recovery.
