The Taliban government police command in Nangarhar province confirmed the discovery of the body of an eleven year old child who drowned recently. Security officials have handed over the body to the grieving family for burial arrangements.
With the arrival of warmer weather and the swimming season, the number of drowning incidents in the country's rivers increases significantly. Every year, many citizens, particularly youth and teenagers, tragically lose their lives in the fast flowing waters.
Reports indicate that over the past year, at least seventeen domestic tourists have died after drowning in the Panjshir river alone. Local authorities continuously urge citizens to exercise extreme caution when visiting and swimming in rivers.
