The Taliban government's Directorate of Mines and Petroleum in Kunar province announced the successful sale of over 1,500 kilograms of precious tourmaline stones. These valuable gemstones were recently extracted from local mountainous mines.
According to provincial officials, the raw stones were sold through an open bidding process for approximately 119.3 million Afghanis. A designated portion of the total revenue has already been transferred directly to the national treasury in Kabul.
Since returning to power, the Taliban have accelerated the extraction and sale of Afghanistan's natural resources. While officials claim this generates revenue, political opponents heavily criticize the rapid exploitation of the nation's wealth without strict legal oversight.
