The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan announced on Saturday that it killed at least two Taliban members in an attack on a Taliban patrol vehicle in the Band-e-Pashtdan area of Herat city. The killed individuals were officers of the First Brigade of the Al-Farouq Corps.
According to the NRF statement, the attack took place around 10:30 Thursday night and no resistance forces were harmed. Local sources in Herat confirmed hearing scattered gunfire that night.
Anti-Taliban military fronts have recently intensified their attacks across Afghanistan. The NRF had previously also claimed an attack on a Taliban checkpoint in Keran wa Munjan, Badakhshan.
