The CEO of DABS (Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat) met with the head of Uzbekistan's Technical Regulation Authority to request cooperation in upgrading Afghanistan's electricity sector technical capacity. Both sides discussed implementing technical standards, laboratory standardization, and staff training.
Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar requested Uzbek officials' support in calibrating laboratory equipment, establishing mobile laboratories, and applying international standards to improve fault detection in the power grid.
Afghanistan imports over 75% of its electricity from neighboring countries, especially Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Uzbekistan has continued economic engagement with Afghanistan without formally recognizing the Taliban government.
