Local sources told Afghanistan International that Taliban intelligence forces in Asadabad, the capital of Kunar province, have asked mosque imams and community elders to provide lists of former military personnel and government employees.
Taliban intelligence agents visited villages including Dam Kali, Kiralah, and Andarsir. A Kunar resident said Taliban members appeared anxious and were pressing community leaders to hand over lists of all former government workers and soldiers.
This comes as Taliban forces have arrested, tortured, and even killed former military and government employees across various provinces. Sources also reported a significant increase in security checkpoints and searches on Kunar's roads.
