Taliban intelligence forces executed two people in the center of Badghis province. The Taliban's security command spokesman in Badghis confirmed the killings, calling the victims members of an "evil and corrupt group."
According to the spokesman, the two were killed at around 4:00 AM on Wednesday, August 19, in the Qadrisbander area while allegedly attempting to throw a grenade at a Taliban checkpoint. The identities of the killed individuals remain unknown.
The Taliban routinely label armed opponents as members of "evil and corrupt groups." They had previously executed more than ten people in Kabul. Independent media have been unable to verify these claims.
