The Freedom Front announced clashes with Taliban forces in Zebak district of Badakhshan, claiming six Taliban members were killed and at least 10 others wounded in the fighting.
According to the group, the clashes began around 4:00 PM on Thursday and lasted until 7:30 PM. Their forces used light and heavy weapons to target Taliban positions, forcing them to retreat. The group also claimed Taliban attempts to capture their positions had failed.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid denied the claim, saying no clashes had been reported. The Taliban routinely downplay armed opposition activity, dismissing resistance groups as incapable of challenging their rule.
