The Afghan United Front, led by former Special Forces commander Sami Sadat, announced a new operation against Taliban positions in Kandahar. The front said the operation took place on Friday, August 22, in the sixth security district of Kandahar city, resulting in the deaths of two Taliban members.
A day before this operation, the United Front had released a video claiming the killing of a Taliban intelligence member in the same security district. Taliban officials have not yet responded to these attacks.
The United Front's attacks on Taliban positions in Kandahar have significantly increased in recent weeks. The front launched its first military operation on July 31 along the Kandahar–Spin Boldak route.
