Ahmad Zia Saraj, former head of Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security, responded to Pakistan’s recent attacks on Kabul and Nangarhar, stating this incident revealed the Taliban’s deep weakness in protecting national sovereignty and their complete international isolation.
Saraj wrote on X that after Pakistan’s airstrikes on Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud’s convoy, leader of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), no country, not even Russia which recognizes the Taliban, condemned this action.
He emphasized that global indifference demonstrates Afghanistan under Taliban rule has fallen into complete isolation and discredit.
The former Afghan national security chief warned that the Taliban, by harboring regional terrorist group leaders, are pushing Afghanistan toward fresh tensions.
He reminded that the Taliban once caused American invasion by sheltering Al-Qaeda’s leader, and now they’re setting the stage for regional countries’ intervention by supporting TTP leaders and other extremist groups.
