Abdul Bari Jahani, former Minister of Information and Culture, warned that fueling language disputes could damage national unity in Afghanistan. He said the country is struggling with poverty, unemployment and educational crisis and stressed that no language is national in Afghanistan.
Jahani emphasized that neither non-Pashtuns without Pashtuns nor Pashtuns alone will achieve prosperity. He cited India's example, which has no national language despite its greatness.
He called statements by Taliban Defense Ministry inspector Lotfullah Hakimi about Pashto being the only national language harmful and said such debates only benefit enemies.
