A 20-year-old Afghan man triggered a large-scale police operation in northern Germany when he was seen with what appeared to be a weapon on a train near Hamburg. Police deployed ground forces and a helicopter before discovering the item was a plastic Kalashnikov toy bought for a child.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning, 12 Sunbula, at Itzehoe station in Schleswig-Holstein. Train services were halted and the station area was cordoned off. The man was identified and briefly detained.
Police confirmed the weapon was a toy and no one was injured. Normal operations resumed after about an hour.
