Sources report that Taliban forces have detained three influential Shia figures in Kabul. Sufi Gardizi, Syed Hassan Sharifi Balkhabi and Mohammad Hussain Sangardost were arrested after attempting to hold a meeting regarding the detention of teachers and students from Khatam al-Nabiyyin seminary.
According to the source, five people from the Public Relations Office of Hazara and Shia elders were also arrested and transferred to the Talibans Ministry of Justice. The Taliban governor of Kabul warned Sufi Gardizi not to forget the era of Abdur Rahman Khan. Their phones have been disconnected.
The arrests follow the Talibans forced evacuation of the Khatam al-Nabiyyin seminary, where 24 teachers and students remain in detention.
