Din Mohammad Hanif, the Taliban's acting Minister of Economy, has met with Yatin Patel, India's Chargé d'Affaires in Kabul, to discuss expanding economic and development cooperation and completing India's unfinished projects in Afghanistan.
The meeting took place at the Ministry of Economy in Kabul, where both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties. According to a press release from the ministry, Mr. Hanif appreciated India's assistance to Afghanistan and called for the resumption and completion of projects previously funded by India.
For his part, Mr. Patel affirmed his country's commitment to continuing aid to the Afghan people. He added that the necessary coordination with relevant Indian agencies has been undertaken to complete the unfinished projects and to transfer funds for completed ones.
These discussions come as many development projects funded by donor countries were halted after the collapse of the previous Afghan government. India has been one of the largest regional donors to Afghanistan over the past two decades, implementing numerous projects in infrastructure, health, and education.
The completion of these projects could have a positive impact on Afghanistan's economy and create new job opportunities. The Taliban government is seeking to reactivate stalled projects by attracting international cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, both sides stressed the need to continue contacts and follow up on the discussed issues to find practical ways to resume the projects.
