Türkiye, Qatar, Pakistan, and Indonesia are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding on defence industry cooperation on Wednesday. Türkiye's Defence Minister has traveled to Qatar to attend the signing ceremony.

Citing its sources, Türkiye's Anadolu Agency reported that Defence Minister Yasar Guler departed for Doha on Tuesday afternoon for this purpose. The quadrilateral agreement aims to strengthen ties in the defence industry among the four nations.

This development coincides with Qatar's efforts to expand its domestic defence production capabilities. On Monday, at the Global Security Forum in Doha, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar's Minister of State for Defence Affairs, announced that the country soon plans to establish a local defence production hub in collaboration with regional and international partners.

Al Thani added that Qatar is working with its international partners, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, to develop domestic defence capabilities and explore investment opportunities in defence companies. He also revealed that a new partnership to bolster capabilities against ballistic missiles, drones, and cyberattacks would be announced soon.

These developments are occurring amid regional tensions and their impact on Qatar's energy sector and maritime trade. Türkiye and Qatar have enhanced their strategic partnership in recent years across various fields, including defence, security, and trade. The two countries had also signed a defence industry cooperation MOU in October 2025.
