Local sources in Kabul report that five Taliban members from the 13th security district have demolished a resident's home in Dasht-e-Barchi. The incident occurred three weeks ago in the "Bist-Metra" area when the homeowner attempted to repair his house before the onset of winter.
Lal Mohammad, a local resident who witnessed the event, said that Taliban forces attacked the house with stones, wood, and iron rods, destroying parts of it. He described the scene as terrifying, with people fleeing in fear while women and children were left in shock and disbelief.
The reason for the Taliban's action was that the homeowner had plastered his roof and built a woodshed. Taliban forces had visited the house twice. On their first visit, they detained the construction workers for a few hours as the owner was absent, later releasing them. When the owner continued with the repairs, the Taliban returned a second time and proceeded to demolish the house.
As a result, the house's doors, windows, and walls are severely damaged, rendering it uninhabitable. The homeowner, a day laborer who had hired others for the renovation work, has since fled to an unknown location out of fear and does not dare to return.
This incident has raised concerns about the arbitrary behavior of some Taliban forces towards citizens. Local residents say such actions create fear and mistrust among the public.
Local Taliban officials in Kabul have not yet commented on the matter. This follows previous reports of similar encounters between Taliban forces and civilians in various parts of the country.
