Local sources in Parwan province report that more than a month after the arrest of 18 residents of Salang district by Taliban intelligence, their families remain unaware of their fate. Meanwhile, relatives of the detainees say that Taliban officials deny having arrested these individuals.

The individuals, residents of the "Koklami" village in Salang district, were arrested over a month ago on allegations of "collaborating with anti-Taliban fronts." Local sources told Afghanistan International on Monday, November 2, that despite repeated inquiries, the families have been unable to obtain any information about the whereabouts or condition of their relatives.

One resident of the village stated that his father, uncle, son, and a total of six family members are among those detained, but the Taliban are providing no information. This lack of information and denial by the Taliban has doubled the families' anxiety.

The identities of some of the detainees have been announced as Khodayar, Mirullah, Dost Mohammad, Gul Saeed, Hesamuddin, Hamid Khan, Khairullah, Anwar, Sayed Rahman, and Fazal-ul-Rahman. It is said that a number of former government military personnel are also among the detainees.

The families have called on human rights organizations and international bodies to investigate and take action to clarify the fate and whereabouts of their relatives. They are concerned for the safety and well-being of their loved ones in Taliban detention.

This incident is another example of the pattern of arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, and lack of accountability by the Taliban, which has been repeatedly reported by human rights organizations. these groups have expressed concern about the condition of prisoners held without oversight from independent institutions.

There have been numerous cases where families learned of their relatives' fate months or even years after their disappearance, and in some instances, only the bodies of their loved ones were returned to them. This situation deepens fear and mistrust among the public.
