The economic deputy of the Taliban’s prime minister, Abdul Ghani Baradar, asked the Ministry of Energy to investigate the possibility of constructing the second dam of Sarubi in the meeting of the economic commission of this group. This project will be implemented in two stages, and in the first stage, the power generation capacity will reach 111 megawatts and will cost about 300 million dollars in total.

Also, in this meeting, the production of 300 megawatts of gas electricity in Jawzjan province was discussed. The Economic Commission ordered the Ministry of Energy to enter into a dialogue with the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and the company presenting the technical plan.

It is not yet clear which companies will be willing to cooperate with the Taliban to build these projects. In the past, foreign companies, including the Soviet Union and India, participated in the construction of large dams in Afghanistan, and in the last three years, mainly Chinese companies have promised to invest in the energy sector to the Taliban authorities.
