Local sources in Herat report that the Islam Qala border crossing in this province has been closed to trucks by the Taliban since Wednesday, 23rd of June. The reason for this decision is the non-acceptance of visas issued by Abduljabar Ansar, the Iranian consul in Mashhad, by the Taliban.

The Taliban have announced that this restriction will continue until the new consul general introduced by them begins his work. It was previously reported that the Taliban removed Abdul Jaber Ansar from his position and appointed another person in his place, but Ansar did not accept this decision and continues to work.The closing of the Islam Qala crossing to trucks can have a negative impact on the trade and economy of the region. This crossing is one of the most important transit routes between Afghanistan and Iran.
