Delay in Delivery of F-16s to Ukraine
The delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine has been delayed by six months, according to a report by the Danish newspaper Berlingske.
The newspaper said that the original plan was to deliver six F-16s to Ukraine by the end of 2023. However, the delay is due to a number of factors, including the need to train Ukrainian pilots on how to fly the F-16s and the need to ensure that the jets are properly equipped for combat in Ukraine.
Six Ukrainian pilots are currently being trained on F-16s in Denmark.
Denmark is a member of NATO and, along with the Netherlands, is leading international efforts to train Ukrainian pilots and support staff, as well as to deliver F-16s to Ukraine for use in the war against Russia The delay in the delivery of the F-16s is a setback for Ukraine, which is currently facing a Russian offensive in the eastern part of the country. The F-16s would have given Ukraine a much-needed boost in its air power.
However, the Danish government has said that it is committed to providing Ukraine with the F-16s and that the jets will be delivered as soon as possible.
