The Committee to Protect Journalists demanded the immediate release of Ehsan Akbari, a reporter of a Japanese media in Afghanistan.Referring to the systematic suppression of the media by the Taliban, this committee asked this group to stop harassing and arresting journalists.Ehsan Akbari, 27 years old, was arrested in Kabul. He has been working as a reporter in Kyodo News Agency office in Kabul since one year.A Kyodo News member told the Committee to Protect Journalists on condition of anonymity that the Taliban intelligence had moved Akbari to an unknown location.Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the arrest of Akbari and confiscation of his work equipment and announced the reason for the journalist’s arrest was “transferring information to anti-Taliban circles”.
