Berbuk: Israel must adhere to the decisions of the Hague Tribunal
Federal Republic of Germany Foreign Minister Analena Berbock has asked Israel to follow the recent decisions of the International Court of Justice in matters related to the war in Gaza.
“Although these measures are currently taken temporarily, they are mandatory under international law,” Berbock said. Israel must also adhere to that issue.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague announced on Friday that it has the jurisdiction to hear the case of “genocide” and that Israel’s request to close South Africa’s complaint that genocide occurred in the Gaza war is not acceptable.
At the same time, the court did not agree with South Africa’s request for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, but asked Israel to do everything possible to prevent killing Palestinians, causing serious physical or mental harm to them.
