The social deputy of the Sistan and Baluchistan border guard command said that in the last three days, 2,285 Afghan migrants were arrested on the borders of Iran with Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Alireza Fazli said that these people were arrested by border guards while fleeing.
Iranian media, citing Alireza Fazli, reported that Iranian border guards identified and arrested more than 2,000 Afghan immigrants to prevent the illegal entry of “foreign nationals” from the borders of Sistan and Baluchistan.
According to this Iranian official, these Afghan immigrants intended to enter Iran “regardless of the restricted border area”.
The head of the office and social deputy of the Sistan and Baluchistan border guard command added that the migrants tried to escape to the territory of Afghanistan and Pakistan after receiving warnings from the border agents.
