The appeals court upheld the one-year prison sentence of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy for illegally financing his election campaign.
Although he was sentenced to one year in prison, six months are suspended
The former French president was accused of overspending on his 2012 campaign and hiring a PR firm to cover it up.
But he has always denied these accusations.
Mr. Sarkozy’s lawyer said that by appealing to the highest court of France, the sentence will be suspended and Sarkozy will not go directly to prison.
