America demanded the lifting of restrictions on social media in Pakistan
After cutting off the internet and imposing restrictions on social networks, including X or the former Twitter in Pakistan, America asked Islamabad to remove these restrictions and respect freedom of expression.
In a press conference, Matthew Miller, the spokesperson of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs, condemned this action of the Pakistani government and called for the cancellation of these restrictions as soon as possible.
According to a Reuters report, supporters of Internet monitoring in Pakistan said that Internet services in the country were disrupted after warnings of protests following allegations of fraud in Pakistan’s elections a few days ago.
Meanwhile, NetBlock, the global internet monitor, also said that internet services in Pakistan have been disrupted since several days.
NetBlock added in a statement: “Metrics show that X has been heavily restricted since Saturday due to the publication of revelations of fraud in Pakistan’s elections.”
