Lavrov: America has not made any serious proposals for nuclear talks
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says Moscow has not received any serious proposals from the United States to resume the so-called “strategic stability” nuclear talks.
TASS news agency reported on Thursday, February 22 that Lavrov made these comments after the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting.
The top Russian diplomat emphasized that Moscow is ready to hold talks on “strategic stability”, but that such talks must be honest.
“We do not trust the United States because they present Russia as a hostile country and an immediate threat that must be destroyed and defeated,” Lavrov said.
According to Lavrov, the United States has not only waged a hybrid war against Russia, but in some cases has gone directly to war.
It is worth noting that the beginning of the talks on arms control beyond the provisions of the “New Start” treaty was one of the important themes of the meeting of US President Joe Biden with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Switzerland a few years ago.
