At least 31 members of the US Congress signed a letter asking President Joe Biden and Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken to refuse to recognize the new Pakistani government.

Reuters reported that the lawmakers continued to demand an investigation into allegations of fraud in Pakistan’s last election.

The letter also asked Biden and Blinken to warn Pakistani officials that Washington could use pressure to stop military and other cooperation if serious steps are not taken.

Earlier, the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union expressed their concern about the irregularities in this election and called for a comprehensive investigation into the alleged fraud.
