Josep Burrell: The situation of women in Afghanistan is unbearable

Josep Burrell, the European Union’s foreign relations policy official, says that the situation of women in Afghanistan under the rule of the Taliban is unprecedented in the world and pressure should be put on this group.Burrell said these words at the meeting of the cooperation between the United Nations and the European Union in the Security Council of this organization. He said: “The humanitarian, economic, political and human rights situation in Afghanistan is worrying.””We must not forget Afghanistan, where there is gender apartheid,” the EU official noted. In this meeting, Borrell continued to support the interaction of the United Nations with the Taliban and at the same time demanded to put pressure on this group. It should be mentioned that after the Taliban regained control over Afghanistan, they deprived Afghan women and girls of their basic rights, including the right to education and work.In spite of the global demands to ensure people’s rights from the Taliban, this group has imposed more restrictions against the country’s citizens, especially women and girls, with each passing day.
