The Taliban government has announced that Amir Khan Mutaqi, the acting Foreign Minister, held negotiations with Bakhtiyor Saeedov, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, on Sunday (March 16) regarding the pursuit of agreements and issues of interest between the two countries.
Hafiz Zia Ahmad, the Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on Twitter that both sides have agreed to work on the implementation of the concluded agreements.
According to Zia Ahmad, a follow-up meeting at the ministerial level will also be held in the coming days.
Amir Khan Muttaqi also had a telephone conversation with Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the new Foreign Minister of Pakistan, yesterday.
So far, no country, including Uzbekistan and Pakistan, has officially recognized the Taliban government, but these two countries are among those that have accepted Taliban diplomats.
